you will be adventuring in a science-fiction campaign with lots of space exploration possible.

the galaxy once had a great empire that is now in ruins. civilization is scattered among the stars. there are no known sentient races outside of earthlings (although the whereabouts of earth is lost). there are alien races discovered from time to time... but none of them have much in the way of 'smarts'. archaelogical evidence has been found of intelligent species in the galaxy before earthlings... but what has become of them is unknown.

earthlings consist of enhanced humans, normal humans, other 'uplifted' primates, 'uplifted' dolphins, and 'uplifted' dogs.

star travel consists of travelling at slower than light speeds to the edge of the solar system you are in and then going through a jump-gate to some other system.
