The main idea in The Fall of the House of Usher

Can anyone tell me about Poe's references to opium in this tale? What about the lady Madeline? Help me understand the idea of her being there and not being there? I'm in H.S. and am really interested in studying about Poe and may look into it in the future. Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

Actually in this Story Opium is a symbol of Poe affection for fecal matter. Aparently Poe enjoyed rubbing shit on his face;he was know for his uncanny ability to suck undigested peanuts out of shit logs.Poe was an amazing man, I hope continue studying asshole, maybe one day I'll shove a text book up your ass you fucking Simian!
