It's around the time we'll start being asked to submit our votes. What do you lot reckon? I'd say Given is just about tops although points taken off for that mardiness after Christmas. Followed by the one and only Aarondite.

I reckon they're the only two candidates after a desperately poor season, dougal. That is unless Rik nominates Marcelino, of course.

I'd nominate Nobby! top scorer for a wingback is pretty decent....as well as all his assists....

Ok he goes awol when the going gets tough but he's still just about the only class act we've got!

Yup, Nobby by a street for me...

With a lack of options I'd agree with Solano closely followed by Given. Hughes deserves credit too.

Best newcomer = Ameobi

Best international newcomer = Bassedas

Best single = Dyer

Best film = Dyer

Best Best = Best

Best hair & makeup = Barton (will the centre-partin' ever go?)

Best supporting act = Harper

Best direction = Perez...oot the f**kin' door

Best goal = O'Brien, saving our bacon

Lifetime achievement award = Bobby Robson, the man just doesn't stop

Shola. 'nuff said.

Nobby? Noooooo! Sorry, I can't agree. He's too unreliable and doesn't achieve anywhere near his potential. I'd probably have to agree about Given. Hughesie has been an (almost) ever-present, but he's still raw. Given had a bad time when he threw his dummy out (ably aided by the press) but he quickly realised his mistake and knuckled down. OK - he hasn't had clean sheets for a long while (apart from Oirland) but little of that is down to him.

Mind - if we had a decent midfield and defence, he's have had nowt to do! ;-)

My first thought is Shola. Stepped in when we were in desperate need and performed wonderfully. If I had to pick a senior squad member, I'd probably go for Given. As others have pointed out, Nobby has been too incosistent this season. Though I'd probably have voted for him without question on Boxing Day just for that "Merry Christmas Newcastle" shirt.
