SUNDERLAND are thought to be leading the chase to sign Everton's unsettled star Francis Jeffers in the summer and are preparing an £8 million bid for his signature. Jeffers` future at Goodison Park is very much in doubt after the England Under-21 star rejected The Toffees` five-year contract offer that would have placed him among the top earners at the club.

Everton are keen to keep one of their most prized assets, but the player is at odds with the club and is expected to leave in the summer.

Well, I have never seen him play. Any of you guys have? Something for Bobby to sign?

decent striker who looks a good finisher. Bit of an attitude problem maybe and on the superficial front he's an ugly get who would fit in well with Sunlung's gang.

Jeffers doesn't fit my identikit of the extra striker we need. Mind you, Dwight Yorke does - perfectly!

Jeffers is a smallish goal- poacher in the Munchkin mould - which raises an interesting point. Why would Peyter want Jeffers AND Munchkin in the same squad? I just wonder whether the Munch wants out of the The Flatpac - he certainly doesn't look a happy mackem these days.

He is out of contract next season and having turned down two Everton offers already, he will definitely be moving this summer because Everton cannot afford for him to move on a free transfer.

It alldepends on who is prepared to put up the money. With Monkey Heed having such a big stake in the club, will he be prepared to pay that much.

Joachim. That'll be the bloke who had to do a runner out of Leicester after messing about with a Mr Big's missus while Mr Big was at Her Majestys Pleasure, and getting his foot broken by his henchmen on the outside by a brick as a warn-off and has never been the same again, alledgedly. (As said by a former Leicester City director to me a couple of years back). Short arms and runs funny but knows where the net is though.
