LAST FALL, after a stressful workday followed by a two-hour freeway commute, I looked forward to relaxing and watching the next game of the World Series. I was also eager to see what progress the contractor had made in replacing our old wood roof. When I got home, I nearly went into shock. My yard was covered with beer cans and shingles, and mounds of wood blocked the front door. Furious, I called the roofer on my car phone and yelled at him about my miserable workday, the traffic, the beer cans and the game I was missing. Unruffled, he calmly announced, "There is no game tonight." "That figures, considering how my day has gone," I barked. "Was it rained out?" "Not exactly," he replied. "When I was trimming the overhang today, I accidentally cut your television cable." -- Contributed to Reader's Digest "Life In These United States" by Don Culver

that is why I never allow a contractor to work on my house when I am not here.

NO ONE screws with my tv or phone lines!
