exert from RTG;

"Beefy [that fat moron with the NUFC tatoo] actually went to the 73 cup final and was a member of the Jarra Branch, I gave him a certificate last year when we celebrated the 20th Anniversary of our Branch! It's up on the wall of the taxi office he owns."

Its been well documented he was a Mackem until Keegan came along, what do you lads think of it all?

Just asking...

Doesn't really bother me. If he is a true glory hunter he should be back supporting Sunderland now shouldn't he? Plastic gloryhunters! The real ones are the best!

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

I wonder if he does cars for BIG people....

I've a question that you can post on the RTG board. Does Quinn get away with that many handballs every game at the stadium of plight?

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

What I can't get over is how damn ugly the Mackem team is! I appreciate it has no bearing on the performance and that Andy O'Brien is a gimp lookalike but jeez!

Phillips, Quinn, Arca, Shwarz, McCann, Carteron, Craddock......

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

So unlike most of your lot, he has actually been to Roker Park?

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Aye, still not quite as bad as Baldy Shearer, O Brien smurf, Marcelino (Worse than Martin Keown?), Dyer and Vamp Harper (he DOES look like a vampire)...

Is this "Quinn gets away with handballs" lark really a double bluff to try and make us forget the ref was sooooo biased towards NUFC it was getting pathetic?

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Can't say I actually recognise the blerk you're referring to OML. However, my view would be that I'd have no more respect for him as glory hunter than I would for someone switching in the opposite direction.
Real supporters - as distinct from the plastic ones - are born with either B&W or R&W genes. You don't make the choice, but you could never, ever contemplate switching - it would simply never occur to you.

I could certainly understand an uncommitted mackem coming to SJP to watch KK's team - as they were a genuine phenomena and just fantastic to watch - but not a genuine mackem.

This is why I genuinely cannot comprehend Hutchinson or Clarky before him, playing for SAFC, even though they are professionals. Couldn't do it.

In reply to Dougal, pot kettle black?

10,004 V Oxford (8,000 V Oxford before it was called off)

Did YOU go??????????????

Dont tell me, you DID, all mags seem to say that.

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

What a surprise, a Makem invoking the Oxford game... yawn. I think you have had better support than us over a season about twice in the past eighty years. No, I wasn't at that game as I was away at University and only got to about five games in the whole season.

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Christ, you'd expect to see this lad on Crimestoppers!

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

The Ref wasn't very good OML, but come on, he certainly wasn't baised.
He booked Barton for the heinous crime of winning the ball in a tackle, yet turned a blind eye to the Munchkin blatantly sticking his nut into Speed's face.
His decision to book Hutch for his spineless attempt to cheat his way to a penalty was spot on.
Even I'll admit that his booking of Quinny was comically incompetent - but quite naturally when a Ref get's a sense that a team are susceptible to cheating he can over-react to certain incidents - and I'm certain that's what happened here. It's called 'poetic justice'.

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Or the fact that the ref and his assitant failed to take any action when a frustrated Phillips was fouled but then punched the tackler in the back. Handbags stuff to you and me but footballers raising their hands in a voilent way is a sending off offence.

It cuts both ways.

Cl*rky Its this guy

http://newcastleunited.rivals.net/media/jpg/2001042201000893.jpg

The bloke who runs safcs jarrow branch knows him etc etc, used to be a Sunderland fan...

SCUM Imho

Re; Hutchison

He has never played for NUFC (at any level) He has never stated he was an attender of NUFC games He wasnt even FROM Newcastle He isnt as thick as pig shit, unlike your namesake He was never 'present' in the area when the NUFC glory days were happening...

So whats the problem?

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

...what about Lee Clark then, OML? Actually, I suspect Clarky always kept his fingers crossed when he had the r&w strip on!

Joking apart - thanks for the url - I'll check it out.
I was really just making the point that I don't know how a committed Mag could ever play for SFAC, just as I couldn't understand how a committed mackem could play for the Toon. That's all.
BTW, I'm certain I've read somewhere that Hutch was/is a keen Mag. Not sure where mind.

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Any discussion about attendances in the past is always going to highlight extremes. Better, surely, is to pick this season.

Our average attendances cannot be compared cos of the capacity difference. We have to find a similar situation. The Worthington Cup would seem best, this season's 2nd round ....

SAFC at home to 2nd Division Luton, 19th September 2000, crowd 24668. NUFC at home to 3rd Division Orient, 20th September 2000, crowd 37284.

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

...just noticed OML that you've already provided your explanation for "my namesake's" abberation. Well, he certainly is no Albert Einstein, I'll give you that much.

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Nice belly

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Macbeth, you really are a sly tw*t arent you???

Or didnt you realise that the home tie with Orient was included in the CORPORATES season tickets?

That puts a good few thousand on the total attendance, + rumours you gave away 5,000 tickets to kids (more than we EVER give to kids) for that particular game

Scum V Villa (H) = 37,000 Regions #1 V West ham (H) = 36,000

A better comparison, we have never claimed to have more fans than you

Its just nice to bring you back to earth with a bump with a little reminder of your attendances BEFORE you became the [self proclaimed] "Best fans in the world"

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

What's all the sly twat stuff about then? he's pointing out a simple fact.....that you give away more tickets than you sell...

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Thats not a fact gavin, and you wouldnt like to go to court over it would you?

Macbeth was being sly because he picked a game in which you would have only got about 24,000 if it hadnt been for the toon giving out 5,000 tickets to kids from special needs places/schools/ bads boys homes and about 7,000 tickets to corporate fans...

Do you think you will be able use the 20,000 waiting list to good effect when your playing Grimsby & Portsmouth in a year or so's time?

lol! --8-D

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

When did you last see the "20,000 Waiting List" thing OML?

Everyone knows very well that we don't have a waiting list any more, we simply have 45,000 season ticket holders.

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Ooh careful you're making me laugh....look it's no big deal to admit that we're a better attended football club than you, it doesn't make us any better.....hiding from the fact is silly though....

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Its bullshit, and im afraid you will never live it down

Along with the;

"We are the second biggest club in Europe, only behind Barca" "We are the Barcelona of the north" "We are everyones second fav team" "Man U are our REAL rivals now"

+ many many many more such comments (The latest being "we have £100m to spend" then going out and buying a Bradford player for £1.5m - you really were fools werent you?)

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

It's most certainly not bullshit that we're a better attended club, I don't understand you primates....half of you admit it but say we're the stupid ones for paying over the odds when you can get in cheaper whereas the other half deny that you give away so many cheap/free seats and instead insist that you're better supported....

As for those comments, they were true at the time...Man Utd were our main rivals for a couple of years and also at that time there was no doubt that we were by far the biggest club in the north-east....this as we'll all agree is no longer true.....doesn't make it any less true at the time....

You'll also find very little in the way of argument about Deadly Dougs stupid comments about 100 million.....

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Haway OML - at least give us the benefit of the doubt, and segregate what Toon fans say with what is attributed in the Press to Mr D. Hall.

I believe we actually signed O'Brien before Mr. Hall's 'statement-of-intent' - and then largely because he was a proven golscorer against SAFC (!) - and who knows, DH could yet stump up the £100 million over the next 2 years.
While I hesitate to defend the bugger, IMO, his statement was misinterpreted as being money spent on transfer fees, whereas in reality it was intended to be transfer fees and wages. That is, an average of £50 million per season for two seasons on new players transfer fees and wages. So, let's see what actually happens.

We have the 2nd highest attendances to Manure (yes, in large part due to having the 2nd largest capacity) and until recently had the 2nd biggest turnover.
However, as Gav says, these are not particularly important facts to real supporters (just spawn bloody boring, pointless arguments, to be honest) - it's the quality of the team that really matters to us, and no one is arguing that we've gone backwards over the last three seasons. These are all facts - aren't they?

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Hey OML, I was at both those Oxford matches, AND the first crowd was around 15000, the second crowd was 10004, when the return match came around we where below mid table playing for nowt with about two games left.

In all my life time as a NUFC fan I've never seen a crowd lower than 10004 and that includes friendlies at St James. That 10004 was an anomaly, whereby the mackems have had numerous games where the crowd is under 9000 - you cant call these games anomalies can you inbred? Check these comparisons inbred:

Anglo Italian our average 14000, your average 4000;

Season 90/91 SAFC -in division1- average 21000, NUFC -in division2- 22000, NUFC also charged more to get in.

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Cant we just ignore OML please...

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Sudden, they haven't been that bad....they've not really resorted to abuse yet....

Just ignore em if they're bugging ya.....

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Another thing inbred, you said,

'+ many many many more such comments (The latest being "we have £100m to spend" then going out and buying a Bradford player for £1.5m - you really were fools werent you?)'

--------------------

My comment,

So what your saying is if someone says the have 100million to spend they have to spend it the next day?

Or is it that YOU are worried shit that us and Man Utd, Liverpool Chewsea have the power to ruin the game for the alsorans down to having more money?

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Can we please NOT get into a crowd debate - it's soooo boring. Fact: both us lot and that lot have Stadiums capable of holding 50,000ish, we both more or less fill them for every league game, neither club has sold out Cup games recently (but then neither have Liverpool, Arse etc so no shame there). I hate the Mackems, can't stand the bastards but have to admit that they've the potential to be a major player in English football and would hope to think that any sane mackem would share that opinion regarding Newcastle. Sniping at each other's attendances is petty, pointless and - I suspect - a sub- concious ploy on behalf of both sets of fans to block out the painful fact that neither Club has won anything of any significance for almost 3 decades.

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

I'll go with that one DSS....after all WHAT does it prove?

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Hey Gav I like these crowd, club debates because it gives the Toon fans the chance to prove to any rose tinted mackem inbred toothless fool a load of FACTS about who is really the bigger and who has the better fans. Thus after a debate they usually feel suicidal, because they find out their club cant cope with Newcastle being THE premier club and only club.

My thought on these debates is,

IF we get 1000 inbreds reading this post, and even only one feels like killing his Dad for making him support SAFC, then this thread is a major success.

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Hahaha :))

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Poor sod really gets wound up, let it go macum, as Macbeth once said NUFC & SAFC normally go through 5 year cycles of being on top, sit back & enjoy it while it lasts.

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

In response to the original question (how many of you remember that??) may I refer you to what happened to Saul on the ROad to Damascus. If you can't remember, click here!

Was Beefy's tatto straight when he was thinner?

I've been at St James Park when we only had about 11000. It was against Bournmouth, I can't say I watched a match though as when the game started I could see about half way then it was called off.

If our lurker really wants to put the knife in, we had a small crowd in 1980 for the last game of the season v Wrexham, promotion missed out on etc. The next game we had a sell-out- for Keegan's first game in B&W

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

LOL wow, some of your really did get wound up

I agree the comments re: attendances being fairly infutile But to say we give as many tix away as we sell is BULLSHITE

NB. YOU DID get 8,000 in one cup game that season, ask on the VTP

Its about time you all knew your "folk hero" beefy is really just a glory supporting useless twat

How can anyone support a club for XXX years (he supposedly went to the 73 cup final) then jump ship when the 'hated' opposition go through a couple of "glamour years"??

SICK!

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Who said he was a FOLK HERO - personally I reckon the fat twat is a real arse, and if the RTG want to cliam him then they are welcome.

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Why are you lot arguing with that Mackem arsehole? Ignore the tw@t!

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Don't be so bliddy stupid OML. He's just one (sad) fat b@st@rd. There's many more around here with a lot more intelligence. Don't insult us. We're not all tarred with the same brush.

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

OI Chris. Haven't you found the spool chicker yit (sic)?

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

What's up OML? Have I upset you or have you fallen asleep after your half of shandy? Maybe I'll have to wait until you wake up tomorrow (or ask your mates for a sensibvle answer??)

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

what is all the fuss about i reckon the more of the pr##s are in the sos on a saturday afternoon the safer your car and house are for a couple of hours atleast [ just a thought]

-- Anonymous, April 23, 2001

Ha ha, nice try ITK Its not him, surely you can give me a TAD more credit than suggest im him after the run in we had with him last year.

Good to see your attempts at disowning "beefy"

There seem to be a lot of pictures around of him, in ref to Nufc etc etc We wouldnt want anyone thinking THAT was a typical mag would we?

NB. Cl*rky, you spelt (and have done many times before) Haway, the mackem way

tut tut :P

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2001

NUFC giving tickets away? Having a larf. Hell would freeze over first. What happened was that people who pay about £1300 for a season ticket get cup tickets thrown in. Hardly giving the tickets away, is it?

-- Anonymous, April 24, 2001

There is an under 16 international comp at the SoL. The bairns school sent an invitation to apply for the free tickets, I was tempted but after the reception I got there on Saturday I would not want to put my son in danger. I am sure I'll find another way to spend the bank holiday weekend.
