Long range goals.

Said Robson today: "Gary Speed had two chances and neither of them went in. Yet he always buries the same sort of chances day in week in during training.

I've never seen Speed launch one from outside the area and see it nestling in the Onion bag a few seconds later.

Have we scored any drives from outside the area, not including Solano's free kicks?

I can't really remember one, without that threat teams will find it easy to defend against us, especially with our lack of width.

I think that goal against Spurs at the beginning of the season may have been from a distance out but I can't really remember. Our best goal all season was Glass's goal against Derby.

Surely O'Brian scored our best goal of the season on saturday.

even Ray Parlour can bang them in for Arsenal but who do we have who when they get the ball in some space on the outside of the area, thrashes it into the net?

With Manure and Liverpool, Gerrard and Scholes or Beckham will shoot on target from distance and with the introduction of the Nike ball it doesn't seem to be something we've considered! Is it purely down to lack of confidence?

It's an area where we need to improve dramatically, so next time someone's down at the Riverside, can they tell Robson to add it to the big list he's working on?

Speed hit a crackin' volley at the Leazes End. Was it against Coventry?

I think that was the same day that that money wrote a Shakespearean sonnet on a typewriter.
