I ate a dog turd

Thought that would get your attention. Well that's whet we called them when I was a kid. You know those candy cookies that you make on the stovetop with oatmeal,p-butter,cocoa,milk,butter and sugar, then drop by tbsp on wax paper.

Well I've not eaten any in many years bc I'm allergic to p-butter,oatmeal,milk, & cocoa. But I made some for a picnic we had out here, and I ate one,to see what happened.

And it didn't bother me.I didn't have to gasp for breath, nor have a blow up like my stomach had been grenaded,or even break out in an all over itch and rash. Nothing.

I have noticed my allergies are getting better. So I've been experimenting with prevoiusly off limit items.Don't have to take allergy pills every day anymore. Still an uphill climb, but definitately improvement. Thanks to Kari out there, whereever you are,she really helped me. Just wanted to crow about that a little I guess. Feels good to feel better.Been a very long haul.

So, can you tell us what you've done to help get rid of your allergies?

Joy- not rid of them yet but showing improvement.First I had to figure out what all I was allergic to.That was a really long list. Then practice avoidance strictly.Thought I'd starve. Lost alot of weight. But adjusted. Took Zyrtec every day during this time, had no choice. I was that ill. Did not do shots even tho allergist pressured me to.I have bad athsma from allergies that get kinda anaphalactic(sp?) and that was her concern.Came close to meeting my maker during this time(I was 39).

Finally,Kari from CS forum sent me info on yeast overgrowth, and this was the final key that put it all together.Turns out from the antibiotics I had for surgery and the strong pain killers I took for the next 15 plus years, resulted in the yeast overgrowth and resultant problems.Kari went thru the same thing. I will be happy to send the info she provided, to you. I've already given it to a number of my friends.

Depending on what doctor I went to, I prob would have been told I had Fibro or lupus or even MS. I had plenty of those symptoms. It's not. It's allergies from yeast overgrowth problem. My really bad arthritus is much better too.Not cured, never will be, but much better. Everything was linked.

I can't forget another link- I'm further and further away from eating organophosphates and antiobotics in food, as we are providing a considerable ammount of our food ourselves, and we're organic.I'm convinced and so is Nick that this has been a very big help.I'm, by the way, really allergic to petroleum products(Organophosphates) and molds(Antibiotics) See the connections?

I ate really healthy and organic in my 20'S and was very healthy.Yeah,I was organic when organic wasn't cool. But I got away from raising so much of my own in my 30's due to working and raising kids and back surgery and everything else that took what little energy I had left.Got sick, sicker, sickest from my early 30's till recently.

Now,Nick comments regularly , how much better I am. I was pretty much a shutin from how sick I would get, esp. every winter. He has had to do almost everything that needed done, for most of the last 20 years. He's a saint in my opinion. He rarely complained.

So that's the story. Quite enough.Hope that answers some questions.

Sharon: good news on alergys but I'm wondering if you might write down your cookie recipe for me. Sounds like the one my mom used to make....Kirk

Sharon, wow! Glad you are doing better. That sounds like quite a long trial you experienced.

And you sure know how to write a headline! Yikes!

Yeah Kirk it probably is the one your mamma used to make.Been around since dirt was born. I'll get it out and post it,in a day or two. Easy to make too.Made alot of them when the kid was home.

And thanks Sheepish for your concern. You got a heart big as the great outdoors. And you get my humor!

Glad to hear the allergies are remissive. I remember the turds too. The ones my Grandma made floated in the pool very realistically :>)

Jay Did they really float? That is so funny! KIDS come up with the darndest things, huh? Their young minds are still open to the possibilities. So,are we all just a bunch of overgrown kids,bc with keep our minds open to possibilities, too?

My mother's recipe card actually does say Dog Turds,so that's all I ever knew them as.
