Hey everybody, need some help

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Work of Edgar Allan Poe : One Thread

Hi everyone. I'm doing as essay for grade twelve english on E.A. Poe and his works, i chose to focus on 'the raven', 'the tell-tale heart', 'the pit and the pendulum' and 'the masque of the red death' and how poe uses darkness, shadows and the clour of black to create certain moods. i'm desperate for criticisms on these works and any interpretations that i could use would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Raven, funereal black with fiery eyes "of a demon that is deaming", shadow, night . TellTaleHeart. night, shadows, lantern on single dead eye.

The Pit and the pendulum. Darkness, black sketches on wall turn red with hefiery heat, darkness of the circular pit,.

Masque of the Red death. Black and red again, face of death. Other poems mention red, fiery windows(The Haunted Palace) Red waves "The City beneath the sea. The effect is visually consistent and symbolically obvious.
