Police arrested two Icelandic men on Saturday after firebombs were thrown at the U.S. Embassy in the capital, Reykjavik.

The gasoline-filled projectiles struck the wall of the embassy early Saturday morning, police spokesman Thor Gunnlaugsson said. Fire engines were called but no damage or injuries were reported.

Two men in their early 20s were arrested and remained in custody while police investigated the incident, Gunnlaugsson said. Police did not release their names.

Authorities would not give a motive for the attack, which coincided with violent demonstrations at the Summit of the Americas in Quebec City, Canada, against a proposed Americas-wide free trade pact.
