Frameline selector lever missing

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

I somehow lost the frameline selector lever on my M6, leaving a silver hole that looks like a PC cord connection. I have to admit it's a feature I've never really used. Should I care about dirt/dust getting in there, or is it a non issue if you're not a collector who cares about having a mint camera? Thanks, Darin

Darin:

My advice would be to get it replaced -- Yes, it will detract from the resale value of the camera, and yes it will allow junk easier access to the inside of your camera. But most importantly, it will no doubt become a feature you will want to use at some point in the future!

but if you want to go on with your camera and donīt worry about it now, do the Mexican way, some black silicon on it just enough to stop dust and allowed it to be remove easily when you wnat to fix it.

It is not going to that expensive so I would replace it. If you choose not too, be careful how you "plug the hole". The mechanism must be free to move so the frameline selection mechanism can work.
