Have Leftover Paint? When you've finished painting a room, pour a small amount into an old medicine bottle. Label it — noting the room. Then you will have available just the right amount for touch-ups when the walls get scratched or nicked

I'll give you an even better tip. If you have some plain 'ol white outdoorsy paint left after doing one part of the house, and you want to touch up the side of your garage door entrance which you ripped into one day with some older car, don't reach into your spanking new car that's the first new car you ever owned for your remote garage door opener and touch the black trim if your hands are still wet. That wasn't latex you were using, soapy water won't take it off, and the acetone you used because you didn't have any turpentine on hand will remove the paint but also strip the black finish.

Ouch! As for the extra paint, I put mine in a small mason jar. (We get lots of nicks, scratches and smears around here; a medicine bottle wouldn't hold enough.)

Hmmmmm....I like my tip better! (hope I don't ever need yours, Brooks)
