Builders Terms

Builders and contractors have a language all their own, and understanding "builder-speak" is useful if you are working with one. "We will start in the morning" of course means any time in the next two weeks. "Substantially complete" means the job is not done but we are and we would like to be paid. All kidding aside, here are a couple terms to keep in mind. "Building to code" is nothing to brag about as it means building to minimum acceptable standards and in most cases is required by law. "Builder's" appliances, carpet, etc. are nothing to get excited about as it typically refers to "bare-bones" models or lines.
