WACO law violation question

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Freedom! self reliance : One Thread

There is something I've wanted to know, and this seems the best place so far to find out.

1)Exactly and specifically, what law or set of laws did the Branch Dividians break to START the whole thing that eventually followed?

2)What law or set of laws did the feds use to justify their being involved in what would appear to be a state matter? (if the answer to #1 is a state law that was broken).

I know, I know, that's part of the problem, they shouldn't have been there. They were. They had to justify it somehow to themselves: With what Law? Honest question here, this is not a troll.

Answers

1) Nothing. It was an accusation of child abuse.

2) The BATF alleged that since the Davidians made part of their living by selling at gun shows they THOUGHT they might have illegal firearms on premises. This makes it Federal. ha.

Now as to how they decided that it would be good to get a "good rent a car" in the form of tanks from the military complete with army Delta Force members to operate the equipment and kill unarmed people running from a burning building....you've got me.

I thought I had heard about the guns, but I always figured that was an excuse for the feds. I always wondered what started it all. An accusation of child abuse. Thank you for the answer.

a little known statute that is unwritten and unknown to most folks unless they have been on the recieving end of it.It is called "contempt of cop" the penalty for "contempt of cop" varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction and from day to day.The penalties can be severe beatings, planted evidence or summary execution.Or all of the above.

I'd like to add that the allegations of child abuse had already been investigated by the county sheriff and the county (state) welfare department. They found absolutely NO evidence of child abuse. They investigated on several occasions, and never found any evidence. The Davidians had invited them in to look around and gave them free run of the entire property. The sheriff had said that all they found was happy children. The sheriff conveniently died of a heart attack shortly before the hearings began. The child welfare workers' whereabouts are unknown, at least by me.

It is curious to me that the Dallas radio station I was listening to this morning made it a point to acknowledge the anniversary of the OKC bombing, and to point out how many children died there, and didn't even mention Waco when that is almost literally in their back yards. I suspect someone has a "delete button" poised over them too now, because they used to always acknowledge both.
