Computer glitch slows tax refunds

A computer glitch at the Missouri Department of Revenue halted tax refunds for three days last week.

According to Carol Fisher, department director, refunding has been restored and will continue. The turn-around time, however, now is expected to be two weeks to a month, not the previously suggested six days.

The system error, coupled with the drastically increased volume of returns, has shifted priority to returns with attached checks before refunds, Fisher said.

Fisher confirmed that enough money has been budgeted to cover all taxpayer refunds.
