ARMA Gaithersburg May Meeting!!! Wednesday, May 9, 2001

Time: 6:00 Networking, 6:30 Dinner, 7:30 Speaker

Location: Far East Restaurant 5055 Nicholson Lane, Rockville, MD (Take Rockville Pike to just north of White Flint Mall. Turn east on Nicholson Lane and go about a half mile and the restaurnant is on the left at the top of the hill) Cost: $20 Members, $25 Non-Members Speaker Bill Carlson, Director of MetroTech Topic: “Regional Technology Needs and Upgrading Records Managers IT Skills.” MetroTech (http://www.metrotech.com) is an employer driven, regional workforce initiative designed to address the shortage of qualified individuals with technology skills in the Washington Metropolitan Area. MetroTech is a regional consortium developed in partnership with the Greater Washington Board of Trade, Washington, DC Technology Council, Technology Council of Maryland, and the Northern Virginia Technology Council. Metrotech has just received a $20 million five-year grant from The Dept of Labor to bolster technical training for area companies and organizations. Bill will discuss the Metrotech program, the DOL grants, and get our feedback on how best to dispense the funds to companies, organizations, associations, etc in order to best boost records management and the information workers IT job skills in the area. He wants to get our feedback on training options for records and information managers. So bring questions on your organizations’ training needs. Menu: Appetizers, Rice, Tea, Dessert Lazy Susan Buffet of Several Chinese Main Entree Delicacies-includes vegetable egg rolls, steak on a stick, shrimp toast, asparagus shrimp, basil chicken, mongolian beef, string bean szechuan, house lo mein, fried and steamed rice, and dessert.
