Well hello again

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Just thought I’d come back over to say hello after a few weeks’ absence. I see you’ve had just as much difficulty dealing with the one or two other mackems who popped up as you did with me.

I had intended to say a few words about the derby on Saturday. However, I was struck by your change of administrator. Macbeth! And here was me thinking you had no sense of humour. Now the role of the “administrator” I assume is to keep the board ticking over and make sure it doesn’t just turn into a forum for abuse. This is the same Macbeth who posted abuse on RTG under multiple names? He even boasts about it on this board. See FTMX “Views” for details – that bit is not password protected. This is the Macbeth who got banned from RTG for racist postings? Of course he denies that one – well, he wouldn’t like you lot to think that badly of him. This is the Macbeth who thinks racism is so funny that it’s a suitable topic to use to have a bit of a laugh at a local rivals’ football club manager? Can I assume that Macbeth is not of Asian ancestry? Therefore, he doesn’t have to worry about petrol-soaked cloths being pushed through his letterbox? Can I assume that Macbeth is not of West Indian ancestry? Therefore, he doesn’t have to worry every time his son goes out that he could get beaten up just because of the colour of his skin? If Macbeth were either of these he might find racism a little less amusing.

Last time I was on I asked whether even one of you felt guilty about the hypocrisy of gloating about your abuse on RTG (with not one poster from here challenging the gloaters) and your attitude to any mackem who dared to make a posting on here. Not one of you could come up with a coherent response on the day. Little did I think that your considered response would be to make one of the most persistent posters of objectionable abuse under various names your administrator. What next? Change your password to a racist chant and then start a thread on how nasty you find racism? What a bunch of spineless hypocrites.

I’ll try to come back on later on in the week with my views on Saturday’s upcoming game. Take care now.

P.S. For Rik (and Gav I think)- I’ve set up a hotmail address to deal with your technical problem. Unlike you lot I practice what I preach. I’m not using the address for anything else. You’re not going to be able to trace me back through it – something I know you like to pretend to be able to do. Therefore, the boys and girls can feel free to spam away – MSN can delete once the file exceeds the permitted size faster than the spammers can e-mail. I would like to use my RTG name. I’m not a particularly regular poster over there but those of you who visit RTG would probably recognise me. However, I have seen what has happened to a friend of mine who got on the wrong side of one or two of your nastier types. He suddenly found his work e-mail inbox full of quite vile abuse. It’s difficult to explain away something like that to your boss. I have no intention of subjecting myself to anything similar.

The occasional mackem lurker.

Is that like the occasional Mackem supporter?????

Can I assume that Macbeth is not of Asian ancestry?

I was led to believe he was a Scottish king, tho' he played most foully for it.

OK - enough of this!

Occasional mackem lurker - If ANYONE posts racist comments on the RTG, and they persist in doing so, then you should ban them. Be it someone from this BBS, or whoever, it doesn`t make any difference to me - I just don`t think racism should be tolerated.

To the best of my knowledge, I know of no-one on here who harbours racist tendancies. If there is anyone, then they keep their thoughts to themselves because they know it would not be acceptable to the rest of the folk on here.

As for visiting RTG and posting abuse, well, I actually don`t approve of that either - BUT, a) I can`t do anything about it, b) it`s only my personal opinion, and c) it`s your bulletin board and therefore you are responsible for keeping it clean.

And on that subject, from our new Administrator I expect the same sensible evenhandedness that earned his predecessor such respect. I see no reason to expect any less.

I don`t know how many from this Board visit the RTG, but I suspect the vast majority don`t. I also think (and I stand to be corrected) that the majority would be more than happy for you to contribute to our BBS. BUT please - this `Macbeth` thing is going nowhere, and getting us nowhere. So could we possibly just let that subject go now?(:o)

Well said Galaxy,

I would just like to add however that I haven't read MacBeth's posting on the RTG board but I believe what he says about their content, the reason barber pole boy hasn't had many replies to his accusation is because everyone else on here also believes MacBeth...

I am not going to comment on the content of anything a Sunderland supporter says on here, whether it about me or about more interesting things like football.

I think this has to be my stance as the admin person.

This mackem is the one who came a few weeks ago, not the one who tried to stir things up after the Bradford game. I can tell from the IP addresses.

Welcome to the Greenspun bbs OML - let's talk footy.

-- Anonymous, April 17, 2001

Lets talk about next Saturday. Listening to the maKems after Saturdays game on Metro, they were worried. I wish I'd been able to catch them moaning after the Coventry game, but I was too busy celebrating.

-- Anonymous, April 17, 2001

It's too close a game to call I think....

We're REALLY shit at the minute and they're having a bad spell...I'd say 0-0 if I didn't know better than to expect us to keep a clean sheet....anyone for 1-1?

However I'd just LOVE it if we beat them convincingly in their hovel....I've never usually bothered with gloating when we've beaten them or at their misfortunes (Cascarino apart!) but they've been up their own arses this year pointing out how shit we are.....we're obviously the most important thing they have to think about...it'd be nice to reply just this once...

Howay Gav, we're not that bad. We'll certainly not beat them 4 - 0 but, we've got a good chance of beating them 4 - 1, if BR gets the team right.

-- Anonymous, April 17, 2001

We're certainly not brilliant at the minute, but on the evidence of what I saw at Ipswich the other day I'd say we're marginally better than the hackems. The head says a 1-1, the heart says a 2-1 victory, whatever happens we won't keep a clean sheet.

-- Anonymous, April 17, 2001

Rik, I really do think we're THAT bad....we've been THAT bad all season but some flukey wins papered over the cracks for a long time.....I expect nothing from this team at all....

Still like I said, the hackems are in a bad run and if Quinn isn't playing for them then we might have a chance.....if he's playing then we're screwed cos we just can't cope with him....

I thought we were the same person though Macbeth? Posting as a "racist mackem" on RTG, tut tut!

-- Anonymous, April 17, 2001

I want it to be a really fantastic end to end game. Scoreline 3 - 2 to us would be exciting.........but, I think Gav`s 1 - 1 is probably closer to what we can expect.

I`m starting to get that fizzy feeling again....these derby games definately have an extra special feel about them.(:o)

Well I'll don my Toonwear again, but I'm not staying off the webcast. Yesterday was torture. I just hope ours works for once! I have a feeling it's going to be nailbiting. Won't even begin to predict a score. But I do think there's going to be loads of cards.

Will you and Yelli be doing the tag team posting again, Galaxy?

-- Anonymous, April 17, 2001

Galaxy , i'd love to see you and Ylli do Tag team , but i'm a sad man ;-) I fancy another capitulation , ive still not got the the last game out of me head . I think Dabz and Cort will score , and munchkin and the defector to equalise .. 2's each and not a a bloody RACIST chant in sight . Yer can always dream i suppose .

-- Anonymous, April 17, 2001

At least we have Dabs back to deal with their ariel threat. Should be a dire game but I won't care as long as we get three points and finish above them in the table.

-- Anonymous, April 17, 2001

I vaguely remember someone telling me that it was being televised....did I hear correctly? If so, leaping over the back of the sofa to get to the computer room (I`ve rearranged the furniture Sting), will make the tag team theme even more realistic!(;o)

Hi Galaxy,

Sky Sports 1, 5pm.

Beginning to get to grips with living in Germany now. We miss English bacon, sausage and a good curry of course. Devastated that M&S Frankfurt is closing in August as that was the only place we could get these. Still, Beer, Fags, Petrol and shopping in general is much cheaper than in England.

At least I have my Sky Digital with me so apart from Mrs P having to have all the episodes of Corrie and Emmerdale video'd and sent over, we don't miss out on much. Mind I never realised how much ITV we watched 'til we couldn't get it. It makes you realise how cr@p the BBC is. If you want to keep in touck with Mrs P. use the above email address and she'll write back. Cheers.

Hallooo Pilgrim! Pleased to hear that you and Mrs. P. have settled in. Sounds like you are enjoying it! I shall drop Mrs. P a line - to get the `female` view. Are you still travelling as much? (:o)

-- Anonymous, April 18, 2001

HI again Gal,

Quite a bit of travelling, but nothing serious. I've had a couple of trips to Austin (brilliant place) and I was in Amsterdam the week before last. Toronto and Sydney are on the horizon, but later this year and I need to go to Switzerland soon. With a bit of luck I'll be back to Austin before then.

-- Anonymous, April 18, 2001

My husband misses all the travel he used to do. He doesn`t get away from his office so much now, and sometimes I know that he really needs a change of scenery. Hopefully things will pick up enough for him to be able to schedule some travel in his budget soon. With travel being so expensive, he has to be pretty confident that any trips will be cost effective.

Ah.....the joys of running a business in the UK!(:o|
