Elite Series, Short Day from Blekinge

greenspun.com : LUSENET : orienteer kansas : One Thread

I think the results are about complete now (within 2-3 runners if not) and the results are interesting.

The Russian Mamleev who won the 7-manna for Ronneby has now won the short race today, in front of two Halden runners (a Finn and a Norwegian) who were followed by Tomas Asp. #1 ranked Frederic Lowegren (Lidingo) was 9th, and a string of three from IKHP were within seconds of each other and finished 14, 15, and 16.

Junior-of-the-year last year, Peter Oberg, was 6th overall and 3rd Swede, while nearly-junior-of-the-year last year Erik Ohlund struggled and was near the end of the pack.

Jenny Johansson won among the women, while IKHPers Hanna Palm, Annette Granstedt, Anna Envall, and Karin Hellman were 3rd, 4th, 8th, and 11th, with another from IKHP, Carolin Jonasson at 23rd. The women from Huskvarna are really doing something right this year! Can they win Tilo-Mila? They may be favored at this point!

I think it is interesting that the on-line coverage was being offered via OK Orion's guestbook. When I've seen on-line coverage from other O' races, they've used a frequently updated web page (sometimes with live sound from the event speaker). The guestbook approach is much more like the OK forum coverage of Tiomila, Jukola, Sjumanna, etc. I guess OK Orion is learning something from OK!

You can take a look at the coverage:

It is all in Swedish, but most of the posts are just names and times, so you can figure it out pretty easily. If you look carefully, you'll see a note from "Swampfoxen."

I'll add that I could be wrong about how many runners were still out in the forest, but I think the start fields were limited to 40, and that would mean 2 men and 3 women were still not posted with results when I wrote the above.
