Computer VCD + TV Out?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I don't have a VCD player, so I was wondering if I could use my computer to play the VCD, and use the TV out on a video card to display it on my tv. I was thinking of getting a Radeon 32 AGP to do this. Anyone know if this will work the same as if i had an actual VCD player? Will the quality be degraded?

You can use your CD drive to play VCDs using the Radeon 32 TV output. I use the Entertainment Anywhere transmitter/receiver from X10.com. It broadcasts at 1.4 gigahertz, and the signal is crystal clear. It even comes with an RF remote control that can be used for a TV/VCR remote as well. It also comes with a serial connector and software so that you can make macros to control your VCD software. I use mine primarily for viewing and recording DVDs.
