'Stop The Violence Week' Disrupted

GUTHRIE, Okla., 10:28 a.m. CDT April 13, 2001 -- A "Stop the Violence Week" presentation at Guthrie Junior High School this week was disrupted when a student and teacher got into an altercation.

Guthrie police said that a police officer was speaking when the 13-year-old student became disruptive and three teachers tried to restrain him.

Lt. Rex Brown said that one of the teachers then hit the student in the mouth with his fist.

Brown said that the teacher hasn't been arrested but a report has been submitted to the Logan County district attorney's office.

The student was suspended and the teacher sent home.
