Voightlander Screw Mount on an M

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Leica Photography : One Thread

If I use a screw mount to M mount adpater to mount a Voightlander screw mount lens (say the 75/2.5) does the rangefinder couple? Is the 75mm frame line selected?

Thanks...

I don't know if there are any rangefinder coupling problems. I have not heard of any, but someone who uses the lens could answer better.

On the framelines - 3 SM-to-M adapters are available: 50mm, 90mm, and 135mm. This goes back to the days of the screwmount-to-M3 transition where these were the only framelines available. Each of these adapters is marked and cammed to bring up the appropriate frameline.

Happily, the 75mm frameline is paired with the 50mm frameline, so using the 50mm (sometimes marked 5cm) adapter will bring up the 50&75mm framelines.

Similarly, the 90mm (9cm) adapter will bring up the 28&90 framelines, and the 135mm (13.5cm) adapter will bring up the 35&135 framelines.

I've no problem with a VC Ultron 35 on an M4-P. I'm using Stephen Gandy's adapter.

I have three Voigtlander lenses (no H in Voigtlander) - the 35mm/f1.7 Ultron, the 50mm/f1.5 Nokton, and the 75mm/f2.5 Color Heliar. Using standard SM-to-M adapters, all three couple to the rangefinder on my M6 perfectly, and the proper frame lines are brought up.

by Erwin Puts has some good information on the Voigtlander line of lenses, answering your questions for each. Note that not all couple the rangefinder. Enjoy.
