Use Safety, Third Explosion Within Two Weeks. (Misc.) (From Bug Bombs)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

For the third time in about two weeks I just read where yet another person has bombed their residence with bug bombs.

In the first instance a lady used 30 of the bug bombs where 3 or 4 should have been used. Oops, didn't shut off the pilot light.

In the second, many more than the suggested amount were used and once again a pilot light set off the explosion that not only damaged the apartment building, but also did so much damage to two other close by apartment buildings that none could be lived in again from a safety standpoint.

In the news today, 18 bug bombs were activated in a 700 square foot apartment and the pilot light set off the explosion. Luckily the human residents were in a bedroom behind a closed door and escaped unharmed though $50,000 damage was done. Oh, and the roaches, they too escaped unharmed. lol.

PLEASE, if you use these, read and follow directions to the letter. Your life could be at stake if you don't.

Did I miss something??? This doesn't sound like a safety issue... It sounds like three folks need brain transplants. Can these folks read???

We've used bug bombs in my folk's and my neighbor's house once or twice in the past ten years. FIVE of the blasted things covered a 2100 square foot house, plus the attics and full basement. The only time we had a problem was when Dad forgot to undo the smoke alarm and decided it would be wise to go back in and turn it off.... And HE got blasted for being stupid!!

How did they survive in that bedroom? Those things are poisonous. You have to remove all the food, and wash all the dishes when you go back in - even if the cabinets are closed. Closing one's self off in a room - even with an open window, would be all but impossible. Let alone trying to block all the cracks between that room and the ones being bombed.

If it wasn't so blasted sad, I'd have to laugh.

I work in a pet store. You wouldn't believe how often people want to leave their animals in the house during the bombing. I have to explain to them that they should deflea the animal at the same time that they are bombing their houses. Preferably, sending the animal to the vet or groomer, at the least, bathing it in the backyard.

People please....roaches are controlled, eliminated saftly by sprinkling boric acid; the white powder eyewash solution from any drug store; by dusting wet areas such as under the sinks, gets fleas too. Gets anything with a shell, does not explode, does not burn, costs very little.
