7DBS: Round 0 (for pairings only) - begins April 22

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

(*Note: Can we get this done as a separate category?)

Okay, this is derived from the "Three Day Battle" system and ideas contributed (thanks Lagavulin).

Between now and 0:00 GMT April 22, people who want to join in and start off with one of the upper seeds in this "tournament" (it's not an official one) should start getting their fingers ready.

The initial pairings will be determined by the overall rankings in: (drumroll, please, as I pick a game at random that I have...) Space Harrier.

Recordings are to be done using MAME32, v0.37b9tg2, to allow for a little integrity here. (Shame, too. I would have liked to have been able to throw in some of the b14 games. :->)

Send in your recordings, which MUST be dated between April 22 and April 27, to peng@demongate.ath.cx, zipped up and named as follows:

XXX-sharrier-7dbs-r0-apr2N01.zip, where XXX is some sort of way I can identify you (preferably your prefix on MARP, or your email address), and the "2N" in the middle is the date you've sent in the recording.

Multiple recordings on one day are fine - but I'll only deal with the highest score I get from you overall.

The results of the zeroeth (yuck, that's a pain to spell right, but that's how it sounds) round will be posted April 28.

Good luck, folks, and remember: There are many more exciting stages that follow!

Oh - I just realized I had a slight lapse of memory here... Space Harrier is broken in 37b9 (didn't get fixed until 37b11, if I remember rightly).

The Round 0 game will instead be Asuka & Asuka.

Zip files should be XXX-asuka-7dbs-r0-aprNN01.zip, NN being between 22 and 28.

I have the remaining seven weeks planned already, but you won't find out what those games are until the day before the week starts... :->

Just a friendly reminder: 7 days to get ready for Round 0. That's seven days to get ready for some exciting dinosaur vs. plane action! (And then, of course, we'll have some OTHER game come up the week after.)

There WILL be a page with the current standings - when it is ready, it will be at http://peng.demongate.ath.cx/7dbs/standings.html.
