Swamp Buggy

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

Have the teams build a Swamp Buggy. The Swamp Buggy must be capable of carrying the entire team. The two teams will race each other around the ovular course. On the front stretch and on the back stretch, there will a bog that is deeper than the rest of the course. The race will consist of 2-5 laps. The first team that crosses the finsh line wins.

I keep picturing a giant baby buggy. Interesting concept though. If they bounced up and down in it, in the water, maybe an accordian type device under water could push them along. I don't have much to offer in the mechanics dept. but I am having fun in my brain.

Hey,that would be cool. All A person would need is A 4 wheel drive best would be A deisel( they can run underwater )some pipe to extend the exaust, one between the carb and the air cleaner, some big mud tires, and A big hole saw.

Swamp buggies have been suggested before. (And look NOTHING like baby buggies. Sorry, Julie.) The machines are only two wheel drive, since the front wheels don't touch bottom in a race, but steer like rudders in the water. As for the engine, there's no need for a waterproof diesel. Use a massive big-block V-8 and the water never has a chance to catch up! Swamp buggy races are held in Naples, Florida, south of where I live. Tough to describe, though. Picture monster trucks in a fish tank.

My friend has a swamp bugy with only 2x4 with a voltswagon motor looks like a piece of shit bu fun as hell to drive. We just put in a huge deisel engine and made it 4x4 and now we go up mountains. great idea for junkyard wars though
