What's your favorite household applicance?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Script Brads : One Thread

Yes, I'm getting down right personal with y'all.

So, confess. I've admitted my love and lust for an iron. You can certainly tell me what your favorite household applicance is without shame.

My Molcajete. Bonus points to anyone who knows what that is.

Cheers.

You know, I hate to iron with a passion and most things around here just don't get ironed. I am mucho lazy and will toss a wet wash cloth back in a load to re-fluff those wrinkles out. It works, mostly. There are a few difficult wrinkles, and I've got a kick-ass iron to handle them. But I have discovered that a light spray of starch will still make the job even easier. It doesn't make it starchy/stiff, but it does help that iron take those wrinkles out without any real effort on my part.

But I can't decide which my favorite appliance actually is. I cannot fathom life before the washing machine. At our old house, I didn't have a dishwasher for years and had forgotton the luxury, but moving here had one and I remember the first time we ran a load of dishes... aahhhhhh, sparkly clean and I didn't have to do hardly anything. But the washing machine is probably my favorite. Well, as far as I can call it that.

I'm ashamed to admit that I'm torn between two appliance lovers. I live off of frozen food, and without a freezer and a microwave, I'd starve. Or I'd have to eat vienna sausages for protein. Oh, the shame.

By the way, Brad's new iron uses more energy than my beloved microwave, and I have a full-size model (assuming the iron is cranked 2/3rds of the way up). This could be the straw that breaks SoCal Edison's back, unless Casa de Brad is someplace served by a municipal utility.

I don't have an appliance I love anymore. Not since *sniff* our gas stove was replaced *sniffle* with an electric one. (WAIL)

Hamilton Beach "Mixette" hand-held beater made in Racine, Wisconsin still in its original (c. 1950s) black and gold box.

Gotta have the box.
