Sol Campbell

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

With Spurs out of the cup and nothing else to play for this year Sol Campbell is going to be thinking a lot about his future now.

West Ham have reportedly spoke to his advisors about a move (Something I'm sure they are not supposed to be doing until the season ends). All the big clubs will be interested so can Newcastle make him an offer he could accept?

No European football but if we do indeed make any sort of investment in the first team would he sign with the incentive of making Europe next year? Lets face it he's available for free and giving him the massive wages he'll command would be no problem given the abscence of a transfer fee.

I'm sure we can offer a more attractive deal than staying at Spurs. But will the likes of Arsenal and Manchester make bids for him?

I think he may well elect to stay at Spurs with Hoddle there. The other thing is, he has never played well at SJP which mean he doesn't like the place..

He's not coming here. If you were a world-at-your-feet footballer would you? Players of his reputation and standing in the game are way out of our league. I only hope Bob's working like the divil focussing on the close season.
In my more desperate moments I think we're £25mil away from a mid- table team never mind a Europe team.

I can't see why such a high profile player would want to go to West Ham either, particularly as he would run into problems with thE spurs fans if he went to another London club.

Striding out in Claret? No, because he's a Muslim and doesn't drink.According to MOTD like.

I read somewhere he'd said he would stay at Spurs if they won the FA Cup. That could, of course, mean he was just taking the wee-wee.

I still have a fancy Glenda will make him the kind of financial offer to stay that he'll find difficult to refuse, but if he goes then I also fear it will be to OT.

He'd look great in b&w, but sadly it aint gonna happen. Mind you, if I were FS I'd still give it a bloody good try - "better to have tried and failed than never to have tried at all."

I thought Ferdinand looked great until he limped off. I still wish he was here. My wife said to me - every time I see him I expect him to be wearing a black and white shirt. :o((
