Explosion rocks Dutch airport Thousands evacuated from Schiphol airport, TV reports

MSNBC NEWS SERVICES AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, April 8 — Thousands of people were evacuated from Schiphol international airport Sunday after an explosion and large fire in the passenger terminal, Dutch television reported.

THERE WAS no immediate word on casualties, but ambulances were rushing to the airport in Amsterdam, one of Europe’s busiest, the report said.

At 2 PM Eastern, CNN says no injuries and that the explosion and fire were in a fast-food restaurant. No word on the cause.
