Is there a way of reducing the number of past posts? The load time makes the site less freindly to use.

Well it is strange... At home, I have an ancient computer running Windows 3.11 with Netscape 4.0, and this is working okay, because the latest posts are shonw first. At other places I have acces to computers this site is indeed very slow, you see the oldest postst first with a splitscreen... Those are different computers, running Windows 95, 98 and ME and some Macs running MacOs 8.6 and 9.0. I don't understand why there is a difference, but I do like the version on my old and slow computer, it's a lot more aesy to navigate.Rolf

woops, sorry for al the typos in my post... It really is strange, I just asked the server to expire my cookies, because I have a new e-mail adress, and by doing that, even my old slow home computer had that 'new' look with split screens!? I was about to cry for help, but now, returning to the forum, it looks as it used to do... Verrry strange.

I have no problem. I thin it is the receiving computer and not a problem with the web site...however, I'm cyber challenged, so, what do I know?

If I understand your question right:
It's a Phillip Greensup-ism combined with a shawn-ism. Personally I hate this feature, but here goes:
There are two very different ways to look at this forum:
Personally, I find the threaded interface stupid and confusing, but that is what Shawn decided to make the default.
Does this help at all?

Wow! This solves it all! Thanks for explaining about the two different styles. Now I know how I can connect to the 'Q&A'styled forum on other (=faster) computers :o) rolf

I was wondering if this would bother anyone. Guess it worked better when there were less messages. I'll put it back. Lemme know if it helps.ps, shawn-isms aren't always a bad thing...consider, for instance, the green green grass over there, and the milky moon.
ugh. wrong forum.
:-)

Wow, what have you done now, Shawn? You've been playing with the configuration settings, haven't you? :-)
I would suggest that most Shawn-isms are good: just look at this forum! Apologies for blaming it all (well, half of it...) on you.
