League Cup Final Played at Davidson Park, Longside ,

Although the opposition (Buchanhaven] were hit by 5 suspensions their

manager had drafted into his team four ex-Juniors and a midfielder

with Highland League experience. The stage was set for a tense game

between 2 teams currently riding at one and two in the league. The

physical difference stood out a mile, Mormond`s 4 man midfield looked

very lightweight in comparision [shades of?] and in the first 20 mins

gave too much space to Mike McCaffrey (ex Fraserburgh] who dictated

the play, The keeper and back four of Mormond were looking resolute

and for all their possesion Buchanhaven scoring efforts were kept down

Mormond took a surprise lead in the 30 min, striker Barry

Crichton, who can throw a ball as long as Challinor but with less

speed heaved one into the box over the head of defenders covering the

near post for Ian Smith to slide in at the far post for the opener. Half time 1-0, retire to bar, 3 whiskeys.

Ten minutes into the second half Buchanhaven equalised, left back

Jason Watson pumping a free-kick into the box where their center half

Nicky Dybal [mom] thundered a powerful header home. Mormond were

under the cosh , front two were not holding the ball up. so on instr

our wee midfield guys started to run at them with ball at feet, with

15 mins to go, Dylan Rae broke from the center circle, made 30yards,

hit the touchline before sqaring the ball for veteran Tom Starrs to

slide home. 5 mins from time the determination of Stuart Craib at

right back saw him go 3/4 length of the field before rifling a cross

into the box where Barry Crichton lashed home the winner.

Chairman Buff was estactic, hugs for Kenny , Ziggy (mangerial

team] crate of beer into dressing room , into hosts social club for

apertifs, and then back to village at 10.30pm for the real event to

begin. First pints on pub , then Graham the new owner who is slowly

after leaving the RAF coming into our way of thinking topped it up

twice with a litre of vodka and a dash of coke. I then remember

nothing . next lunchtime a cacophny of mobile phones from abandoned

players bags at time, Football can be such a morale booster at times

Galaxy my problem is I never get a sore heed, more a raging thirst and a desperation for a full breakfast, quickly followed by one pint. Gal I was in the bookshop the other day and this lady [late 60`s] was in front of me looking for a dog grooming book on Shitzi`s , they were unable to help on their pc, but they took here name and were going to ask around. I was going to stick my neb in ,I was not sure if you were still interested in the breed or could offer any ideas.
