Chris Ewbank was a showman. It's difficult to tell with Naz how much is 'show', and how much is just him being an arrogant pillock.
Terrific puncher mind.

I don't like Boxing or Horse racing, both should be banned.

I'm not a big boxing fan but I like the lighter weghts as there is some skill in it. Naz & Chris Ewbank were great, there fights are/were shows & I hope Naz does it in style.

I'm with Rik, I have never ever put a bet on the grand national, nor do I like that dangerous game boxing;)

Naz IS A TOP DRAW SHOWMAN/BOXER, which is two aspects of quality entertainment combined. Simply he is a one man sports entertainment money machine, and good look to him. He combines showmanship (dont knock it, the WWF is a 1billion buisness, and I only got into watching it in the last year, through Sky Sports mainly. WHERE WAS THE WWF when I was growing up?? Am I still growing up I ask myself??? Is there something psychological? Did I not get all the toys like my friends when young? Answer me Freud!;) with a noble art, which if you reach the top in boxing seperate from showboating you will not be short of a few bob in itself. But to put on a show like he does before a fight takes some balls and a level of superior confidence.

Naz is simply someone special in my opinion, given a gift as good as what GAZZA was given. And hehasnt blown it yet.

Turning this thread sideways, Did any of the 36 non finishers in the Grand National have to be put down today?

Did anyone win anything? I bet that no one is brave enough to say how much they lost gambling on the national toay. In fact I bet you I lost less than the rest of you by not betting.

In answer to your first question Rik, according to wor auntie, no horse perished in the race today, and considering the conditions that was quite possibly a bliddy miracle.

On the second point, I backed four horses in the race today, all at a two quid each way, so my bets (including tax) came to a little under 18 quid.

mind you, of those four I backed I manged somehow (I don't quite know how) to get the first three past the post.

I haven't been to the bookies yet, but I reckon my return is somewhere round a hundred quid, so a profit of 80 odd quid.

Mind you, that won't cover what I have lost in previous bets at other times so its swings and roundabouts. 80)

1) none.
2)nothing.

The Ponce - I hate the swine and hope he get's a good hiding. Then ban boxing. Although I loved Ali when I was a child (I cried when he lost to Frazier and Norton) and I know he might have been ill even if he hadn't been a fighter, I fancy anyone need only look at him to know that it simply has to be banned.

Racing - Ban it. No horses died in today's National but I wonder whether any have died during the course of the meeting. Even if the answer is no, I see the whole racket as exploitation of beautiful beasts and I detest it with all my heart.

Seems like Prince Naseem more than met his match this morning. IMHO I think he is a great showman, good boxer too - but apparantly not the best. I feel guilty for enjoying boxing, I know I shouldn`t, especially with animals like Tyson still being allowed to fight. Talk about `money talks`!

And talking about animals - again IMHO I thought the Grand National was a disgrace. It was purely by luck that no horses died. In fact, I think the attitude shown recently regarding horse racing/foot and mouth etc., has been disgusting. Not only should they have not run this horrible race (horrible in the best of conditions, let alone in that mire of a course), but they shouldn`t have been having the meeting fullstop! Another case of `money talking`. (:o|

Hey - that`s the first Sunday morning rant I`ve had for ages! Maybe it`s my impacted wisdom tooth that`s making me spikey!

I see quite a lot of him 'strutting' about. He has such a big head on such a small body, he's tiny! A good boxer shit person.

I put most boxers on par with the senior rowing guys, best bliddy trainers ever, you wonder why footballers get so many injuries, watch them train, it is pathetic, Naseem is/was good ,maybe still is,but mentally a hungry in this case no patsy Mexican will always do the biz outta of a want for nothing Brit, Fancied the Mex , but I hedged my bets to E/W on Smartie , should have been on Geordie Masons Red Marauder tho, claimed the 12 stone allowance!!, BTW been to a few meetings, not the National tho and although they have never told me I get the distinct feeling they really enjoy themselves, nice sunny day. ears pricked, forever stroked and patted, they love it, Funny the horses in the B western movies had a tougher time of it but no one complained then. My photo of Roy Rogers on trigger - memories

Boxing is truly a game where you create your own hype. As long as you don't believe it you'll go a long way. These athletes are some of the best individual athletes in the world and on most occasions out on a great show.

Unfortunately last night Prince Naseem died by his inability to do what is probably the most basic of boxing skills... fight. He has incredible power. But to think that you can lay the haymaker all the time and get away with it is unrealistic.

For as smart as he is, he got out-smarted last night, and out fought.

More than that, prince naseem will no longer be a draw in the west, his continued preaching of Allah the wondrous last night in the ring got him nothing but boos. Americans have very little stomach for the kind of spectacle he put on last night.

His show is over.

I enjoy watching him. So much that I paid for the fight before realising the start time. Which was a bit of a bugger as I started a 24 hour shift at 09:00. I thought it started at 22:00. I like boxing, probably something to do with coming from Blyth and not having a television until I was 38. We had to make our own entertainment. Ask Screach.
