Company, CPSC Recall Defective Lighters
WASHINGTON, 6:29 p.m. EDT April 5, 2001 -- A company that makes cigarette lighters is recalling nearly a million of the devices because a device that is supposed to make them childproof may malfunction.
The lighters were made by Fleetwood EXIM Inc. of Grenada, Miss. The company and the Consumer Product Safety Commission have not received any reports of injuries.
The lighters are oval tubes with a roll-and-press-type igniter. The lighters have a chrome tip with the brand name "youjie" stamped into the side.
Convenience, gas, and grocery stores in the southeastern region of the U.S. sold the recalled cigarette lighters from June 2000 through February 2001 for about $1.
Anyone with one of these lighters can return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund. Customers can also call Fleetwood EXIM toll free at (888) 251-5252 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.

That reminds me--who was it who bought all those matches? We had a great thread on what to do with them (besides light fires).
