Dear experts, For the same video (same resolution 352X288), what is the difference between avi and mpeg1 (pal)? Which one should have a better quality? Thanks! ... Kelvin Fish

Typically the AVI file will have a higher quality. But it does depend on if the AVI is straight uncompressed, or if it is compressed. Depending on what codec you are using the quality of the AVI could take a nose dive. Right now I have a 30 minutes video at 352x240 in avi file compressed using the huffy lossless codec it eats up ~1.8gig. When I convert to mpeg1(Vcd standard settings) the size of the same clip is ~280MB to get to that size it had to compress heavily so it losses something in the process.
