MASSDEBATE THIS FRIDAY AWAY! Do we support the most tediously boring team on earth ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I'll kick off the FOR argument:

A huge 5 WEEKS have now passed following the excitement that was Goodison Park - since when the NUFC first team has capitulated on behalf of its supporters in a paltry 2 matches. Tomorrow's cliffhanger against some gooners from Norf Lahndahn has been rescheduled, apparently because - would you believe - they'd rather be visiting dreary old Manchester. As a result it will be another full week until we get to visit some tractor showroom and bring home foot & mouth samples.

We've signed neebody; we've taken no more high-profile French starlets or American Footballers on loan. We're a godless nation, to the extent that even the Messiah has turned his back onour sparkling manger in favour of some rusty lean-to on the South Coast. In short, nothing ever happens in ToonTown anymore.

I mean, even YBR's remembering the names of his players at present, YKD's keeping his troosers on (and his @rse out of Funniest Home Videos), while Big Al is too busy finding out if he'll ever walk again to excite us with his regular public pronouncements.

Boring boring boring. I put it to you, ladies and gennelmen, that we do indeed support the most tediously boring team on earth ...

Imagine being a MANUre fan. Even when they romp the premiership they say they're have a bad season. Where does the next bit of excitement come from for them? They Winning the FA cup and don't bat an eyelid. I remember going out on the piss in Manchester the day MANU won the league (and we blew a 12 point lead). There was nobody out celebrating. Nobody wearing there footy tops.
The only way is up - baby. Maybe one day we might sign someone. But look on the bright side - if we ever win anything it will be the best piss up Sydney has ever seen.

Seconded. Being boring and winning all the time is bad enough, but being boring and losing does absolutely nowt for my mental stability, which has always been questionable even at the best of times. :-)).

Sadly, you have a point LT - where on earth would we be without Douglas Hall and his disappearing millions to keep us amused?
