Liverpool at Barcelona

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I reckon the dustbin-sifters will get a result tonight, in fact I predict a 1-2 victory. I grew up with L'pool stuffing the whole of Europe, and it would take me back a few years if they could manage it once again.

And no, I don't care that it's 'just' the Uefa Cup - this is Barcelona we're talking about here!

Well nick, I'll watch it as it's Barcelona - plus of course, as my wife says, there are 22 men on TV kicking a ball around a field!
However, I'm frankly not that bothered whether 'Pool win or lose - Houllier has wiped away any residual affection I had for the Liverpool of Shankly and Paisley with his underhanded transfer dealings - can't stand the man.

Different topic, but I thought Leeds were excellent last night - particularly the two up front.

Agree with you about Leeds, Clarky. Thank god we've already got them out the way IMHO cos with the best will in the world, (and I've been short of that particular commodity afa NUFC are concerned, for a while), I couldn't see us getting the results against them now, that we already have.

Leeds did look good last night. Might "feel" a tad strange to see them in the final or even winning it while ending up mid-table!

Yep totally agree with what has been said about Leeds, best player

on the pitch for me was Alan Smith, I know he's an annoying little

twat, but he never stopped working all night and scored a good goal.

When are the pundits going to learn that 0-0 is not a great result in the away leg? Barcelona only need to draw now and Liverpool have to play positively enough to look like scoring with all the attendant risks.

Agree about Leeds. Hate the buggers but what a performance! Kewell is still the best player in the Premiership. Smith is an evil little shite, but notice how he signed an extension to his contract the other week for a mere 16k/week. How many other prolific strikers would get out of bed for that sort of money???? Makes you wonder whether there is something to be said for bringing them through the ranks, eh? Maybe Leeds have it all in the win-bonuses where it belongs, unlike our feckless wasters.

Softie - I think you'll find you don't spell it "feckless"

;o))

What a boring game! The long distance camera didn`t help matters either.(:o|

Galaxy
It was so boring I watched the John Travolta film that was on 5, and only went back to the footy in the breaks.

On balance, I think I probably stayed awake longer 'watching' the film than I would have watching the game.
