i recently purchased a M6 TTL....about four months ago. i've pretty much used it on a daily bases...about two week ago i open my camera bag and notice the bright-line frame illumination window had come off the camera....so i fit it back on, and so far it has stayed put. Anything like this ever happen to anyone else?!? i was pretty dissapointed to see a new camera fall apart like that. eric

Return the camera to the dealer. Nothing should fall off a new Leica without considerable duress.

Eric-

Send it back. I've had my TTL since March of '99 and withing two months I send it in for a cleaning! Maybe it wasn't all that necessary, but there were BIG white specks inside the front element of the viewfinder. Although they didn't affect the picture quality, it was the principle. Back then I paid $2195 for the body and I wanted the damn thing right...

Send it back. Good luck.

Eric: Send it back. I purchased an M6 two years ago. I used it for a friends wedding and everything was out of focus. I compared it to my M3's and the footage scales on the lenses. It was off. I called Leica and sent it back. The total time it was out of my hands was 8 days. They turned it around overnight and the focus is right on now after two years.

Eric... Everyone here is right on target with this one. RETURN THE CAMERA IMMEDIATELY, (as in tomorrow if possible). Nothing on your Leica should be "falling off" after 4 months use. I don't care if you've shot 10 rolls a day, everyday. This is not common and leads me to believe that you will possibly have more problems down the road. Better you address the problem now, instead of later on when it might be worse. Good luck, JT

i know i should return it....but it's hard to part with the camera...even if it'll only be for a week.

Eric,

I Melbourne Australia I wanted a light leak checked out and could't bear to not have my m6 for a month - so I make an appointment with the leica tech at the distrubtors. This meant that I got to go through the problem with him in detail, get advice (film loading technique) and get the problem fixed in a hour or so. Not sure leica would encourage this but worth a try.
