Unknown movies

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Aeon Flux : One Thread

Paul, once you recommended this site; www.unknownmovies.com. Hope I'm not making false accusations; but let's just say I would like to point out a very interesting phenomenon I have come to associate to this little site. Every time I go there, and its been only 3 times, months apart, I am barraged by invitations to porno sites in my e mail for quite some time afterwards. Once I had to even close off my email to everyone to stop it. Have you had this same thing happen to you? Another interesting thing, since my email name is Sue sues, a FEMALE name, and Barb e; another FEMALE name, you would think they might consider I'm a female, and yet all the porno sites it sends me, (I delete them all but the subject line is what I'm talking about) obviously are intended for male view. Not wanting porno, mind you; but it strikes me as a poor way to do business.

It may have something to do with their new hosts. Did this happen with the old "Barefoot Gen" review?

That's about when it started, yup.

You know I'm not gay and neither is my father but we receive offers for gay sex on the e-mail address we share. That is is a poor way to do business. Word of mouth will eventually sink the internet porn industry.

Well, I don't know much about companies monitoring Internet traffic, but I've been to the site dozens of time, & never once got porn ads. Complain to Greywizard, if you want, but I think it's a freak occurence (no pun intended).

Sorry Nadar, but online porn isn't going away. Frankly, I don't see what all the fuss is about - who cares if you recieve a few dirty words in your email? I'd rather have it there than in my mailbox. Some people would consider your email address pornographic... be thankful we have these freedoms, both of you.

No dirty words, but advertisements for woman having sex with animals is one of my objections. Interesting you haven't received any, then this may clear that site as the suspect. Also, I prefer to do my own shopping, and if I say no, I like not to be bothered again, but there isn't any way to say no to this except change my screen name, which I am considering doing.

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), April 05, 2001.

My new name isn't dirty. Its not a "equine hardon" My real name is Markus, I looked in a name dictionary and found out in latin it means belonging to mars, or small hammer. In celtic it means, horse, or mare. So I though about it and came up with something that sounded sorta medival guildish, then later I caught the double meaning. I still like the name and hoped others were more pure minded than me.

Who's going to beleive a guy with the BigPoppaPump e-mail address isn't always thinking that way.

No one.

Barb I wish you would have stuck one of those smile faces, after your reply, or something similar.

No one :)

Haha. Not trying to torture you. I have no cruel feelings in me like that. But its fun to play with you...oops! I did not mean that the way you thought I didn't. Teasing, celtic horseyhammers. ^..^

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), April 05, 2001.

Or it might be confused with Warhammer ;) Actually, I can relate to that; Nadis, half of my email address, is Hindi for "nerve". I'm always explaining it to people, in case they miss the small "i", & think I wrote "nads"... huh huh.

-- Inukko (nadisrec@worldnet.att.net), April 06, 2001.

Barb E. I don't think your cruel. Celtic horseyhammers is a lovely name. Your fun to play with to.

Nads is Rec(reation), is what I thought it was.

Well, as long as we're explaining email names my name isn't Sue at all. My sis came up with my sn combining our family cat, Suzy, and after my cat, Beowulfe. I thought it was kinda cute. I always figured Nadirec was like some sort of Hindu. Gee, Paul, that translates into Nerve-recreation; sorta like say some uh...spinal stimulation? How Aeonesque of you.

I must be lacking imagination, William is my real name

-- William (stateofflux@yahoo.com), April 06, 2001.

The name thing on the internet is funny, isn't it? It's a true chance to masquerade. Once I was talking to another Aeon fan, we were imagining a plot of Aeon and Trevor escaping they're usual desperate lifestyles for a more sedate, flirty kind of thing on the internet themselves. Sorta like You've got mail in Bregna, they fall in love over the net, arrange to meet and to their horror...eek! So like can you imagine their names? Aeon = Spybaby or something, well guess I'm getting way out here.

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), April 07, 2001.

As far as the internet name thing I got so tired of using names. Everywhere I went I had so different name. Now I either use Mark or like here where ideas rule supreme, I choose no name.

We should all choose unpronounceable symbols like Prince.

-- Barb e. (Suesuesbeo@aol.com), April 11, 2001.

Right. I am force to agree. If you need to call me something the Formumer Formerly Known As Nadar D. will do. No lets just skip that whole phase just call me the Forumer.
