What inspired Poe to write so many poems and short stories?

The answer to that is Poe inspirations in my opionin was the fact that he smoked opiom. The Opiom gave him wild hallucinations which lead to his unreal, crazy and wild short stories and poems he was unbelievable, but thinking about it would anyone not on somesort of drugs be able to come up with that stuff.
