I am interested for the purpose's of Sports photography (soccer) in purchasing a 300 mm lens for my Minolta 8000i camera. Hopefully in the summer I will be in a position to purhcase a Minolta Dynax 7. From a cost point of view I would like to purchase a independant ie Tokina / Sigma / Tamron 300mm lens S/H. Could someone help me regarding.

Compatability with my camera's What would be a reasonable price for purchasing such a lens second hand

Depending on condition, it's a wide range. From $700 - $1500 used.

But that 300 f2.8 G lens is an awesome piece of glass. I envy you. :-)
