Seedorf

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

The Beatiful game.co.uk are suggesting that Inter are willing to use Seedorf in a swap deal for Kieron Dyer. Load of crap if you ask me.

Answers

I saw that on Calciomercato.com as well :

"Transfer news

15:15 02/04 Newcastle on Clarence Seedorf as they want to give Dyer to Inter Milan

Newcastle are still interested in Clarence Seedorf, although Inter Milan would like to keep him for the moment. The English side decided to offer Kieron Dyer, 22. The player is doing a great season and Sven Goran Eriksson called him with the National side. L.G."

So who knows???

The icNewcastle web-site is running a survey "Who should BR cash in on if he needs to raise cash to buy new players this close season?"

At the moment 79% of respondents have voted for KYD and only 6% for Marcelino! They could all be mackems of course.

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2001

Hey Clarky...it's not Makems putting in the votes against YKD's name......its Biffa and Niall at NUFC.con

They seem to think that only they should hold the upper hand on all thing Toon so they have deliberately knackered the voting and then they are bragging about it on their site.

Those two are getting so far up their own arses they are in danger of turning themselves inside out.

As I've said before on here, I've known Biffa for some years but he is seriously pissing me off at the moment with his supercilious(sp) attitude that everyone else but them make mistakes and no one else should even consider talking Toon without discussion and reference to them first.

Like we haven't rigged online polls before? ;-)

They must have been really bored to have enough time to wait for ic to reload so they could keep voting. Or they've got T1 access.

Er, what do you mean Ciara??? ;-)

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2001

Seedorf is the type of signing we need to make to ensure that the likes of Dyer, Griffin etc stay at this club.

As long as Bobby sorts out the left side of midfield I'd be happy to see Seedorf in the middle with Dyer out on the right wing. Seedorf can do all the dirty stuff while Bassedas finally gets the chance to concentrate on opening up defences.

I saw their posting about site rigging....amazing they really think it's something new....or that you even have to use a mouse to do it :))

There's nowt wrong with site rigging....as long as the vote comes out the way you want it ;)

dear gav,

could you fix it for me to see Marcelino at the top of that list, please? It'd really cheer me up to see it rammed up nufc.com's hard drive.

seedorf is a true star. he hasnīt quite reached his full potential yet but as midfielders go on his day there árenīt many better. heīd be ideal in the prem. get him, but not at dyers expense

-- Anonymous, April 03, 2001

I'll second that min - I've been trying to 'correct' .com's efforts, but gave up exhausted last night after getting Marcelino up from 5% to 7%!

-- Anonymous, April 03, 2001

Oh go on then.....It might have to wait until after lunch cos I've actually got work to do for a change this morning...

-- Anonymous, April 03, 2001

the 'who to sell' poll has been up a few days. On day one I voted 5 times in a row for Gary Speed and his rating went down while Warren Bartons went up, to wild applause

-- Anonymous, April 03, 2001

OK - the poll was pissing me off as well. I've got no work to do this morning and have written a little Perl script to ease things along. Wor Marcelino up to 22%. I'm still running at present - the IC site is pitifully slow and it's taking 3 seconds to register one vote, even programatically.

If anyone is interested in helping things along you can use the Perl script below.

# Test script for testing out the posting of a CGI request

use HTTP::Request::Common qw(POST); use LWP::UserAgent; use Getopt::Std;

$ua = LWP::UserAgent->new;

my $number_of_test_votes = 500 ; # How many votes do we want to generate

print "Creating " . $number_of_test_votes . " test votes.\n" ;

#################################################################### # Set up the address of the CGI script that we will talk to #################################################################### my $target = "http://icnewcastle.ic24.com/0200sport/0100football/newcastleunited/ index.cfm?CFNoCache=TRUE" ;

for ( my $loop_count = 1 ; $loop_count <= $number_of_test_votes ; $loop_count++ ) {

my $cgi_parm = 'Content_Type => "form-data" , Content => [' ; $cgi_parm = $cgi_parm . '"Vote_ID" => "50960"' . ' , ' ; $cgi_parm = $cgi_parm . '"Option" => "11000381"' . ']' ;

############################################################## ###### # Evaluate out CGI parameter string and stick it in a request object ############################################################## ###### my $req = eval( 'POST $target ,' . $cgi_parm ) ;

############################################################## ###### # Execute it! ############################################################## ###### my $resp = $ua->request($req); die $resp->status_line(), "\n" if $resp->is_error(); ############################################################## ###### # Get the return status back and print ############################################################## ###### (my $content = $resp->content()) ; # print $content ; print "Submitted vote " . $loop_count . "\n" ; }

I beg your pardon

-- Anonymous, April 03, 2001

how do you run the code though ?

-- Anonymous, April 03, 2001

That's bloody brilliant Gav - keep it going.

-- Anonymous, April 03, 2001

It's not me mate, I'm still busy!

Scratchy is my bet....

-- Anonymous, April 03, 2001

Can you post that again with better formatting?

Any special additions needed to get it through the firewall?

-- Anonymous, April 03, 2001

Hee hee! Keep the updates going on here guys, so us ic challenged folks can see how rigging voting is going. :-)

-- Anonymous, April 03, 2001

To run

1) You need a version of Perl along with the appropriate libraries. I use ActiveState Perl. This is freely available for download.

2) Place the script in a text file using notepad or something similar and save to a file - for example frig_vote.pl

3) Open a command window and type : perl frig_vote.pl

4) Gav - I don't know whether any additional code is needed if you are behind a firewall or proxy server. If so there are probably additional methods you can call in the LWP::UserAgent library.

5) Sorry about the formatting. I'll be happy to supply a formatted version to anyone who wants one. If so then E-Mail me.

You can "vote" for other players by altering the player number in the following line of code:

$cgi_parm = $cgi_parm . '"Option" => "11000381"' . ']' ;

11000381 = Marcelino 11000380 = Barton 11000382 = Speed 11000383 = Bassedas 11000384 = Solano

Hope this has been of interest to some of you. My job is back end web coding and it's good to find something like this to do on a quiet day!

How do you use the Perl Script Gav?<> I want to put Shearer top of the list, then brag about it.

-- Anonymous, April 03, 2001

Learning Perl can be fun with the right motivation :-)

-- Anonymous, April 03, 2001

I prefer winding people up and playing Play as manager..... This Perl stuff is too hard for me, I can't even open the downloaded file .

-- Anonymous, April 03, 2001

You'll need more than PerlScript Rik - AS isn't on the list!

-- Anonymous, April 03, 2001

Well, I'm still bored out of my mind. If anyone out there is into hacking, how bout adding AS and rigging the poll? That would be amusing.

Gawd, I'm bored.

-- Anonymous, April 03, 2001

- AS isn't on the list! ? YOU ARE JOKING, What kind of fix is that? I'll have to start a counter poll (rig free of course).
