Time for Action

Since the start of the present season we have as fervent supporters, discussed everything and I mean everything that has contributed to the demise of our team . We have debated finance, buying, selling, the lack of adequate training facilities, the academy , the board , management , the coaches , what other`s think, in fact the list is never ending, we should bury our thoughts in a time capsule for the future generations of the Toon Army. Then I read a posting today , in it was a contribution from Floridean and the words that diffuse all the opinions we have uttered, he is not the first, The Geordie Jew, our Dan has been consistent in his view , there are others , myself included have at times penned the simple fact,ie `We are simply not good enough`, that`s it , in a nutshell , ok problem solved, no its not, its bliddy ongoing , I want it sorted, we want it sorted, the question is straight forward, "Why and How"

In the industry I am involved in , reporting of incidents and the follow up of incidents by a enquiry team [cross-section of workforce - manager/graduate eng/safety rep/supervisor] is the order of the day, follow it through till its logical conclusion and if we can learn from it and pass the message on, the object of the exercise has been worth- while. In the early days you look at the best proceedures and take them aboard, twenty years ago the best of the majors was Du Pont,

Taking this a step further I would classify Newcastle Utd FC as a major incident and a enquiry should be launched , findings to be made public, lasting no longer than three months , full access to the team involved in the enquiry to all things `Newcastle Utd` including Fan`s Forums. If the Why and How are carried out correctly there will be no need to recommend changes, automatically stand out. At least it will appear that the club are conscious of our failures,a spirit of honest coop-eration may ensue, whether this would affect the city is something way above me , others may want to explain,

The Team, I am not suggesting a Satchi and Satchi make over on this the enquiry team, here we go team pick again, Leading the outfit I would envisage a well known respected senior person, career background immaterial, succesful in past being the benchmark, Even tho his appearance was dodgy I liked the style of the Bruce Dern look a like on the documentary `They changed the face of Football`, PR guy I think couple of football people outwith Newcastle and a female member. Working to a budget they will have free rein to talk to present and past staff at the Club, supporters representatives, sponsors and tv .

Too obvious to say that this is a remit for the present board, it must be independant , learn then put into practice ,thats their job

Having worked in the chemical industry all my life Buff, I certainly recognise the kind if enquiry you suggest. However, for these to be fruitful they require the unequivocal support of Management.
In this case, this could be incredibly difficult to secure - they don't appear to recognise they're doing anything wrong.

The ultimate responsibility for the success of any business entity rests with the Board of Directors in general and in particular with - the Chief Executive Officer who in the USA is usually the Chairman. In theory, but rarely in practice, the Board is responsibe to the shareholders who can if they so wish remove the directors from office. If the abysmal record of the last few years were the experience of most public companies, the Chairman would have 'resigned.' My opinion is that we shall stagger from crisis to crisis so long as those responsible for the direction of the club remain in office. In the words of Loiver Cromwell to the Long Parliament- You have sat here too long for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go
