Film Rewind Lever

And another little problem - do you find that you trip the film rewind lever by mistake? Particualily when taking a vertical picture? I frequently loose count as a result. Any magical fixes besides tape over the lever?

If you are using a Leica M, then I am a little confused by your comment about Losing count. If you hit the rewind lever, the film counter stays on the last used frame unless you remove the bottom plate. If you hit the rewind lever and cycle the film advance, the rewind lever should snap back to the normal position.

If your camera is doing something different, like zeroing the frame counter simply by hitting the rewind lever, there might be a mechanical problem.

yep - the rewind lever resets the frame counter. sounds like a problem?

I'm confused, too. I checked and none of my M's behave this way - M3 through M6 TTL. If flipped mid-roll, none affect the frame counter, and in all cases advancing the film lever just returns the rewind lever to normal position.

I have checked - seems not to be the lever that is causing the counter to reset. What should cause the counter to reset? It seems to reset by mistake when I am using a monopod - maybe the base plate is moving and tripping the reset?

Do you have a pretty heavy lens on the camera? It is somewhat possible, I suppose, that the baseplate could be getting pulled off, if it has become loose (only possible if baseplate is bent or baseplate catch in the body is bent) thus moving the 1mm or so required to set off the lever for the counter reset. Alternatively, the counter reset is bent or baseplate is distorted...
