Just read that David Rocastle lost his battle with cancer on Fri night. Always thought the guy was talented and honest.

RIP David.

I didn't know he was ill until I heard the news today. What a bloody shame that is. 33 years of age! A damn good player but what does that matter. What a shame.

Terribly sad news, and at such a young age. Full marks to both sets of fans for the immaculately observed `minutes silence`.

Such a shame that Motson doesn't think that silence includes him.

What did I miss Softie? (:o)

Very, very sad. Thoughts for his young wife and kids. RIP David.

Bloody frightening, it wasn't long ago when he was diagnosed.

Gal, I think Softie is refering to the fact that on MOTD Motson waffled on and on for what seemed an eternity when the silence was being observed in the ground. It sounded absolutley awful, but if it is any consolation he wouldn't have done it during the actual silence, it would have been recorded after the match and laid on top of the pictures.

Terrible thing to have happened, he was only diagnosed in February and died by the end of March.....so quick. My sister-in-law had/has the same Non-hodgkins lymphona but she seems to be getting through it and is back to work after about nine months or so off sick.

It makes you look at your own mortality when people younger than you die like that doesn't it. Live life for now.....RIP Rocky, sleep well.

Tragic news and such a shame for his wife and three young children.

Besides Motson's ramblings there were some very good tributes on Soccer Extra on Sunday morning.
