Kegsy got a feeling that the good lady may have worked a flanker, my daughter is giving me a pair of slippers and a bottle of Whiskey, June was down on Wed and when I picked her up in the village she was all remorse and said she had dropped the bottle at the Bus Station but not to tell our Sarah !, she would make it up, food shopping on Thurs I perceived that she got 2 bottles of wine for herself and 2 six-packs no whiskey, I smell a con, too wise, am I?

Buff.....that story above about June (presumably your missus) dropping the bottle of whiskey reminded me of a wonderful story of the NUFC team returning from one of the Fairs Cup matches back in the summer of '69.

The story goes that when they came back from one of the away games, Alan Foggon had bought a litre bottle of whiskey (a size unheard of over here at that time) in the duty free and he hugged it all the way home on the plane.

When they landed at Newcastle, he carried it clutched to his chest, down the stairs of the plane. When he got to the bottom one of the ground crew asked for his autograph so he put the bag down, signed the autograph and picked the carrier bag up again by the handles.......

Yes, as you've probably guessed, the bag broke, the bottle fell out and smashed on the tarmac.........Bobby Moncur was coming down the steps just at that point and was reported to have said in his broad jock accent.....auch, anither sasanach who cannya hold his whisky!
