We didn't know who Redrover was; she's a newbie to the Net. Regretefully, we turned down her very polite request for a password. She wrote back, saying she understood, and mentioned she's an RN in the mental health field. Well, we just had to give her the password this morning, didn't we? Heaven knows we need the help! Redrover will be around later, I hope.

Hey now! LOLOLOL

Brooks and Brooke are going to get in a 'discussion' about cats v. dogs?

Can't be done. . .I like 'em both. Just have dogs only at the moment.

Woof!

Hi Redrover! By the way, I'm the only sane one here... wanna see my release papers?

Hey Carl, speaking of which. Last night's broadcast on Art Bell (gonna catch the archives mostly) featured humorous 911 calls. I caught one by a girl asking if dispatch would please send an ambulance to take a crazy person to the hospital. Turns out she was the one in need, wanted that door-to-door "emergency away" service to the mental hospital. No, her parents wouldn't take her. No, she wouldn't take a taxi. What do you mean there is no "emergency away" service in this town.? She was a ringer for that hormone-crazed daughter on the show, Grounded For Life. Can't understand why her parents objected. Sure hope that wasn't what I was like at that age (cuz I might have to start showing more respect to my folks).

Brooks, I'm sure your parents would have paid for the taxi.

They might have given the driver the wrong address though, but we will never know.

Glad they didn't as you might not be here, and that doesn't bear thinking about.

Which of course is why i didn't write this but somehow I have been taken over by another entity......

Will Redrover be bringing a couch or do we have to have our own?

It must be something of a challenge to build the membership here, if the default rule "No strangers need apply."

Tom, we don't mind strangers if they have a posting history on ezboard, so that we can have a look and see if they've been trolling. We had a real register of about 80 at the old Currents, many of whom were lurkers (and are lurkers here too). In addition to the ones who came over from the old Currents, we've had a good number of password requests from various places, some of whom are old TBers, like Chris/Griffenmill. Just today, a poster from the original TB asked for the password and I haven't seen him post anywhere since the old board.

After being involved in and now observing the spats on ezTB and reading some of the sentiments expressed on Readalot's board about Currents and some of the posters personally, I think our careful membership policy is the right one. We are elitist snot-noses, I believe the RAL sentiment is; no matter, it seems to work for us.

The problems you face are real enough. I haven't been involved in the Stürm und Drang as you all have, so only comment as an observer.

I'd be inclined to accept a sub from anyone, known or unknown, who has not been a nuisance on TB2000, (There must be some in this category!)

If the new poster should sufficiently offend, simply perform sayonara (with notification), then change the password, advising all but that individual of the change.

But this does not rise to the Federal level. Y'all are doing well.

Put a sprig of Prunus serrulata 'Taihaku' in your respective bonnets. (Dandelions are nice too, and more available, though they wilt way too soon. Come to think of it, we used to make garlands of the hollow stems.)

I agree with you Tom, but have to live with bouncing between forums for now.... :(

"I'd be inclined to accept a sub from anyone, known or unknown, who has not been a nuisance on TB2000, (There must be some in this category!)"

Unfortunately, due to the propensity of troublemakers to assume new personae, we can't accept unknowns. The software of this forum is much easier to troll and hack than ezboard and someone could cause some real trouble before we caught him/her and changed the password. I remember only too well from the old TB board. It's a real--literal--pain to delete over a thousand posts in the space of an evening.

"We are elitist snot-noses"

It's true, I have a bad code. Cad I trade it in for a non-elitist nose, please?

-- Anonymous, April 02, 2001

Sorry, non-elitist noses are Made in China and Old Git is boycotting Chinese goods at the moment.
