Students Injured in Bleacher Collapse During Class Photo Shoot The Associated Press

RICHARDSON, Texas (AP) - A set of risers collapsed during a high school class photo shoot Thursday, dumping students to the ground and sending 42 to hospitals. None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening, authorities said.

About 400 students were posing for the photo in front of Richardson High School in suburban Dallas when the semicircular risers gave way.

Nineteen students were taken by ambulance to hospitals, and another 23 were taken by parents or school bus, school district spokeswoman Jeanne Guerra said. Other students were treated at the scene.

Among the reported injuries were a broken leg and sprained ankles, Guerra said.

Classes remained in session. Richardson is 12 miles north of Dallas.
