What is the easiest way to transfer 8mm to vcd OR is there a camcorder that can use 8mm but also hook into the computer somehow. Iv looked around and cant find a camera that can hook into a computer and play 8mm. Thanks for any help with this ?

Hi There!does your camcorder have a digital output. in other words, a dv link or firewire. i f so, you can pick up capture cards for digital capturing for quite cheap! well, in UK u can! if not, then analogue is the way. once captured, you can burn the video onto CDrs as a VCD.

**I realized I left a few steps off my original reply.**This method will do what you want to do. The quality won't be the very best, but it's OK for me.

It's a cable that goes from your video camera into the USB port on your computer. No special card is necessary. The quality is good enough for me.
After I get the avi, I convert it to mpeg2 using avi2vcd.exe (freeware) and then I use Easy CD Creator (the VCD wizard).
