If we lose on Saturday we're going down, aren't we?

Bradford away and Sotton at Home are the only 2 games I can see us winning from what's left. Faint possibility of a draw at home to Leicester or West Ham due to their dodgy form, but Ipswich, mackems and Liverpool away are out of the question and Arsenal and Villa will both leave with 3 points.

We've lost our most experienced centre half, the ancient Aaron Hughes, to injury and need O'Brien or Caldwell to magically produce form. Don't even think about what will happen when Cort breaks down again and we have absolutely nobody in midfield who can deliver a pint of milk, let alone a telling ball into the box.

Urgh! Heebiejeebies like you wouldn't believe. How did we get so complacent? We should be on the steps of SJP hoying things at the windows. Somebody give us some hope, please.

Here's some hope:

I hope you're wrong!

West Ham, Derby, 'boro, Everton will overtake us comfortably. If Man City can get 12 points from their remaining games we are down.

Hey come on the Senior players at the club will sort it out!!

Warren Barton has admitted he and his senior team-mates are risking being booted out of St James' Park if recent poor performances continue. Bobby Robson is set to begin a major rebuilding plan in the summer and the long-serving defender admits he has suffered along with the rest of the Newcastle team in recent weeks as results and confidence have fallen apart. Barton warns: "The manger and the fans will not tolerate many more performances like those against Manchester City and Middlesbrough. "If people are not trying or simply not performing well they won't have a future here. What we have to do is stick together for the sake of the young players. It would be easy for them to lose confidence in the face of some of the recent performances but it is the senior players who have to take responsibility."

Prepare to meet thy doom ...

I think that what they see as taking responsibility and what we do are slightly different things. We would expect to see them shot while they will earn the same money or use some get-out clause to bugger off with a loyalty bonus.

We have no defenders to call on. We have Shola and Cort who know how to score but if either is injured there is nobody left. Our midfielders have let us down so badly this season that words fail me. The thought that the only guy waiting to come in is McClen gives me even more horrors.

We are running on empty. We have to win 2 games. We can't keep a clean sheet and cannot sign anyone other than a keeper until the end of the season. Utter nightmare. I've seen nothing that did not profoundly depress me in recent games, and can only remember that the results against Leeds felt dead spawny at the time.

Middlesbrough. Manchester City. Aargh!

What's young Des Res Hamilton up to at the moment?

No time even to collect my coat ...

Are you Dougal in disguise? Ooh, floods. We'll be OK

-- Anonymous, March 29, 2001

More depressing thoughts,K.K. could be the new boss at Southampton :-(

-- Anonymous, March 29, 2001

Right.

We've been here before haven't we? While relelgation is a very real threat at the moment, i think we should sit back, take a deep breath and GET STUCK IN!

This is no time for worrying what may not may not happen when we still have the ability to make a difference as fans. NO to doom and gloom. NO to booing, whining, whinging, moaning etc.

Heart on our sleeves, grit your teeth do-or-die determination and two fingers to anyone who can't hack it.

Sing. Sing proud, loud and like your lives depended on it. Scare the opposition and stop wishing we were the entertainer's all over again. Those days are long gone. Time to stand up and be counted. The rest of the world is listening, St. James' Park.

5 points; we only need 5 points - where we get them from I've no idea but that's all we need. PLEASE

-- Anonymous, March 30, 2001

IMO another 3 points should see us safe from that "R" word.

You finished off by saying but all the games for the rest of the season shouldn't that really read the rest of the games for the remainder of the season?

-- Anonymous, March 30, 2001

What happened there? 2nd half of my msg gone and and no space between end of msg and the email address. Hmmm.

What I meant to say, your majesty, is that I believe this squad to be much better than recent results show and they are underachieving by a long way. YBR needs to knock heeds together and get them playing to their full ability. If he can do that (and with his record he should be able to) we are in no danger.

Jonno

Just so you know why the next time it happens.....looking at the source code, when you put the paragraph code in before the bit that's 'missing', you put a full stop . instead of a R/H chevron > thus the board didn't understand the dud coding.

You can see the final paragraph in the source code.
