Dark Shadows Part II

As discussed yesterday, dark shadows that are unaffected by bleach are probably not mold but dirt. What causes this dirt on walls and other locations? Don't overlook the obvious -- these dark areas may be caused by the activities of kids or pets. Dark shadows can be attributed to air movement. Typically wall and ceiling surfaces around heating and cooling vents collect dust and dirt from the air movement associated with the vent -- this is normal. If you notice shadowing around windows or along the edge of the carpet near the wall you probably have unwanted air movement. Take steps to slow this type of air movement to decrease shadowing and increase heating and cooling efficiency.
