It depends on what you want to do. If you insist on recording to AVI format first and then converting to VCD or SVCD, you're probably better off with Win 98/ME. I record straight to MPEG-2 so I can make SVCDs and I don't record in AVI format. Windows 2000 works great for that. Windows 2000 is a much better, more stable operating system than anything Microsoft has put out before. I work with UNIX systems for a living and Windows 2000 is the first operating system I've ever seen from Microsoft that I thought did not suck.
