Iraqi Vice President Delivers President Saddam's Letter to the Summit

Amman, March 28 (Petra)- Iraqi Vice President Izzat Ibrahim, who heads his country's delegation to the summit and read out Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's letter to the summit, thanked Jordan for its effort to host the summit and expressed hope that the summit would come up with practical decisions and commitments that could live up to the challenges impending the Arab nation particularly with regard to the Palestinian issues and the Palestinian people's ordeal . In his letter, President Saddam stressed two main factual factors: Arabism ( the strong feeling in Arab nationality ) and faith in God. These two main factors formed the driving force behind all types of meaning cooperation between all Arabs. " These two facts are just like two wings for our nation and without them it can't fly high , similarly a bird without wings will remain an easy prey for beasts on earth," President Saddam said in his letter. Arabism and faith are inseparable and Arab sacrifices everywhere over the past decades were based on these two facts, President Saddam said citing examples from history such as the Iraqi revolution in 1985, the 1956 aggression on Egypt, the Algerian revolution against imperialism, the 1967 Arab-Israeli war and above all the Palestinian sacrifices against Israeli occupation .

President Saddam asked Arab leaders to address Arab issues on the basis of these two facts . The two main issues to be dealt with according to this are the sanctions on Iraq and the Palestinian people's struggle to liberate their land .These two issues should not be overlooked. Asking the Arab countries to extend support to the Palestinian intifada, President Saddam said " By God, we shall bring them an army whose end will be in Baghdad and its forefront will be making the blood of criminal Zionist invaders and occupiers run cold." " If you want that and decide it, you shall have an army of men keen on winning ,martyrdom just as the Zionists are keen on life," he said .
